BAN Mission Statement

Beyond Affairs Network (BAN)

Support Group for Dealing with a Partner's Affair

A local chapter of BAN is being formed in Conneaut, Ohio. BAN is a non-profit, volunteer, grass-roots organization, which provides men and women who are dealing with a partner's affair to come together for strength, insight, and mutual support. It is best suited for individuals who are seeking to gain more information, understanding and perspective about the issue of affairs in order to make more informed personal decisions. BAN meetings are not intended to act as a substitute for counseling or other professional help.

Local BAN meetings are facilitated by veteran affair "survivors" and guarantee participants strict anonymity within the group setting, as well as the identity of their spouses and the other woman/other man. Meeting locations and times are confidential, and are distributed through e-mail to those participants who indicate they wish to attend a meeting. There is no charge to attend a BAN meeting.

An extramarital affair by your spouse can be the most devastating and emotionally painful event that anyone can endure. An affair tests the foundation of any relationship but beyond that, it can shake the foundations of your very being. Upon learning of a spouse’s affair, you begin to question your entire life and your very identity. It becomes almost impossible to function and the pain can become unbearable.

Many others who have shared your experience liken it to the death of a loved one. You feel empty, deserted, betrayed and shamed. Your own self-esteem is damaged and you feel anger, depressed and so many other intense emotions that you may sometimes feel you just can’t go on.  There can be little good news associated with such an event but there is hope. Hope that you can recover and hope that you can build a happier life from the ashes of your marriage.

So please remember that if you’ve been devastated by a spouse’s extramarital affair, there’s someone to help you through the shock, anger and pain.  Meet with others who share your experience and who can help you. Or just have someone to talk to about it that won’t judge you.  The Beyond Affairs Network offers a “safe” haven to share your concerns with others who have experienced what you have.

Meetings are open to all men and women whose spouse had an affair, regardless of whether the marriage survived the affair. People engaged in an affair, counselors, and members of the press are not allowed to attend.
